Corporations will stop at nothing

The Trump administration is expanding and entrenching corporate power. It’s trying to turn our federal government into a system run by and for corporations. It’s holding the door wide open for corporate influence — and corporations are having a field day. Right now, a set of abusive corporations, with the help of the politicians they fund, are aggressively pushing to eliminate commonsense protections on the federal level so they can increase their bottom line.

Three dangerous bills are headed to the Senate right now. These bills undermine government protections to our health and safety and allow corporations to operate with even more impunity. If passed, these bills could result in thousands of premature deaths in the United States.

These bills could cause long-term damage.

The so-called Regulatory Accountability Act would make it harder for agencies to issue critical protections that people in the U.S. rely on for their health and safety: Rules that protect our air and water, workplace safety requirements, and more.

The REINS Act would prevent federal agencies from putting in place lifesaving standards that keep people in the U.S. safe. Effective, commonsense updates to everything from clean air standards to overtime rules could be completely tied up in red tape — indefinitely.

Under the Midnight Rules Relief Act, Congress could eliminate vital protections that Obama established in his final year as president. This includes actions like providing school breakfast to children and implementing lifesaving ozone pollution standards. Under this act, these rules and many others could be reversed all at once, without meaningful debate or public input.

Together, these bills would serve corporate interests at the expense of our health and safety. Act now to stop this rollback of critical protections.

Corporations may have deep pockets and politicians willing to do what they want, but that is no match for people like you coming together to demand change. You know we can accomplish great things when we act together for the common good. Urge your senators to vote no on these dangerous bills.
