STATEMENT: Nowhere left for Exxon to hide from Healey

BOSTON– Yesterday, the United States Supreme Court refused to hear Exxon Mobil’s latest appeal of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey’s investigation into Exxon Mobil’s abuses, clearing the way for the investigation to begin.

Please see Deputy Campaigns Director Sriram Madhusoodanan’s statement below:

“This is a huge victory for democracy and uncovering the truth about Exxon’s decades of deception. Exxon has desperately tried to block this investigation but this latest decision leaves Exxon nowhere to run. Alongside grassroots pressure, similar investigations of Big Tobacco in the 1990s forced the release of millions of internal documents that led to that deadly industry being held liable for its abuses.

This is Exxon Mobil Corporation’s Big Tobacco moment.

We’re now one step closer to holding Exxon accountable for its decades of deceit and interference and ensuring that other Big Polluters pay up for their abuses.”
