What
the CCA does
The Centre for Corporate Accountability was established
in 1999 to promote worker and public safety.
It is concerned about the role of state bodies in the
enforcement health and safety law and the investigation
and prosecution of work-related death and injury.
Advice and Assistance
The CCA runs Britains only free, independent and
confidential advice service to for families bereaved
from work-related deaths.
These deaths may beWork-related deaths vary widely
they can include for example the deaths of workers in
on construction sites or in factories, or members of
the public in care homes or hospitals.
We provide assistance to families on investigation and
prosecution issues arising from the death and help them
ensure that wherever possible , were appropriate, those
responsible are held to account.
Research and Education
The CCA undertakes research into law enforcement and
corporate accountability in Britain and internationally.
We evaluate the effectiveness of state bodies in enforcing
health and safety law and , the role of the coroners
inquest and criminal justice system in investigating
the circumstances of deaths and injuries and in holding
organisations and individuals to account for safety
failures.
Through our website we are also a source of independent
and authoritative information on corporate criminal
accountability issues.
Policy Change
We advocate campaign for changes in law and policy
that promote worker and public safety including
reform to the law of manslaughter and imposing safety
duties on directorsworking closely with bereaved families,
safety organisations and trade unions. |
